Many of Adaptability's client schools were created because of the teachers and support staff advocating for their students. If a student is unable to safely and successfully attend their General Physical education class; Adapted Physical education services should be provided. This can be done by implementing direct services via an Adapted Physical Education program or providing consult Adapted Physical Education services in the students current Gen Ed PE class.
Adapted Physical Education classes are typically taught 2-3 days per week for 30 minutes each. Depending on student ability, staff, and space available, class sizes typically range from 4-10 students. Whenever possible, implementing general Education students into the class as peer buddies is a bonus for our students. Not only socially, but also as demonstrators for our visual learner students. If your school does not provide Adapted Physical Education services, please reach out!
